How to Verify PGP Signatures On Web Pages
Using PGP for Personal Privacy v. 5.x:
I have digitally signed the Web pages on this site using PGP v. 5.x. You can check to see if there has been any alterations by using PGP v. 5.x. To do so carry out the following steps:
That portion of the page's HTML coding starting at:
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
HTML Blah, Blah, Blah... through and including:
-----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
(Similar methods will apply to other Internet browsers. Just make sure you save this part of the HTML source code to your Clipboard.)
If you cannot obtain a valid signature on this page, please let me know.
You may wish to print the source code of this page, to see how it was done, or visit the guru who supplied me the original idea to PGP Secure my Web Pages and an introduction to the process.
How to Sign Web Pages
Using PGP for Personal Privacy v. 5.x:
I offer special thanks to Edward James Noel Bell, who inspired me to adapt his system for PGP v. 2.6.3i, to PGP for Personal Privacy v. 5.x. Please visit his page!
Please feel free to use this procedure.
The more PGP in the world, the better off we all will be.
Now for the directions:
Create your Web Page in normal HTML using either a text editor or some other Web Page authoring tool. When you are absolutely finished and ready to PGP sign the document. It is important that you ONLY USE an HTML or other TEXT EDITOR because some Web Authoring tools will automatically reformat the PGP signature block, thus invalidating it. Proceed as follows:
That portion of the page's HTML coding starting at:
-->
<HTML> Blah, Blah, Blah... through the end of the HTML coding, and including the tag:
<PRE>
Special Note:
If you sign your Web Pages using a DSS/DH algorithm, only those users of
PGP 5.x, or greater will be able to verify your signature.
View the page in your browser and it should look pretty much like this one -
